COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Marietta College volleyball team dropped a five-set match at Capital University Tuesday (Oct. 21) evening. The Crusaders posted set scores of 25-13, 25-20, 23-25, 21-25 and 15-11. Capital improves to 10-17 overall and 2-4 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. The Pioneers fall to 9-16 on the season and 2-5 in the OAC.
Freshman
Erica Denallo (Independence/Independence) led the Pioneer attack with 16 kills. Junior
Kennedy Clyde (Chagrin Falls/Hawken School) had 10 kills, a team-high 26 digs and two service aces.
Devin Walter (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) and
Chloe Janson (Lawrenceburg, Ind./East Central) each chipped in with nine kills. Janson also notched four blocks.
Senior setter
Laura Mauer (Terre Haute, Ind./North) had 45 assists to go along with four kills, 14 digs and two blocks. Libero
Mary Ervin (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) posted 19 digs, while defensive specialist
Julia Moskaluk (Copley/Revere) had 20 digs.
Marietta wraps up the nonconference portion of its schedule on Saturday (Oct. 25) with a tri-match at Wittenberg University. The Pioneers play Allegheny College at 3:00 p.m. and Wittenberg at 5:00 p.m.
