Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Balanced attack leads Capital over Women's Soccer

MARIETTA, Ohio — Capital University defeated Marietta College by the score of 7-0 Tuesday (Oct. 21) afternoon in Ohio Athletic Conference women's soccer action. The Crusaders improve to 11-4-1 on the season and 4-1-1 in the OAC. Marietta drops to 1-13-2 overall and 1-4-1 in conference play.

Capital scored early and often taking a 3-0 lead into halftime. Chloe Brown tallied the game winner in the 14th minute with an assist from Amanda Kachaylo. Four minutes later, Kachaylo scored the first of her two goals in the match. Maura Fortino had the assist on Kachaylo's goal.

Becca Cartmill made it 3-0 in the 23rd minute. Marietta's keeper failed to control the ball in the box and Cartmill was there to put the ball away for the goal.

Kachaylo and Fortino teamed up again for Capital's first goal of the second half. Fortino sent a cross into the six-yard box to Kachaylo, who fired the ball into the lower corner of the net for her eighth goal of the season.

Fortino got in on the action in the 52nd minute with an assist from Claire Quinn. Quinn picked up her second assist in the 62nd minute when her corner kick was headed in by Mariah Richards. Shelby Johnson tallied the final goal in the 71st minute with an assist from Monique Hanayik.

Freshman Rebecca Tenney (Pepper Pike/Orange) had 10 saves in goal for the Pioneers. Kim Leitch started in the nets for Capital and had four saves in 63 minutes, while Alexis Brand made one save in 27 minutes of action.

For the match, Capital had a commanding 29-9 lead in shots and 10-0 advantage in corner kicks.
