BEREA, Ohio — Baldwin Wallace University defeated the Marietta College men's soccer team by the score of 3-1 Saturday (Oct. 11) evening. The Pioneers fall to 4-7 on the season and 2-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. The Yellow Jackets improve to 6-7-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the OAC.
All four goals were scored in the first half. Cody Smith scored with an assist from Michael Brennan just 5:13 into the match to give Baldwin Wallace the early 1-0 lead.
Marietta sophomore
Michael Nauls (Burke, Va./Lake Braddock) evened the match with a goal in the 25th minute. Nauls took a pass from
Wesley Riley (Marietta/Marietta) and beat the BW keeper for his second goal of the season.
A little over three minutes later Bill Gamble tallied the game winner for the Yellow Jackets. Gamble scored with an assist from Aaron Harden. BW added an insurance goal when Harden scored an unassisted goal in the 33rd minute.
Sophomore
Sebastian Parra (Bexley/Bexley) went the distance in goal for the Pioneers. Parra made four saves. Baldwin Wallace's Ryan Asbury had three saves in 90 minutes in the net.
Baldwin Wallace outshot the Pioneers 18-15 for the match. The Yellow Jackets had seven shots on goal, while Marietta had four. The Pioneers held a6-2 advantage in corner kicks.
