Three-point barrage leads Men's Basketball over Otterbein 104-68

Box Score MARIETTA, Ohio – The Marietta College men's basketball team dominated Otterbein University posting a decisive 104-68 victory Wednesday (Jan. 29) evening. The Pioneers improve to 14-4 on the season and 9-2 in the Ohio Athletic Conference.

Marietta scored the first four points of the game and never trailed. Otterbein (4-14 overall, 3-8 OAC) committed 25 turnovers in the game that resulted in 28 Pioneer points.

A three-pointer from Otterbein's Matt Rhodes made it a two-point game, 14-12, with 12:57 left in the first half. The Pioneers used a 19-5 run over the next five minutes to blow the game open. Luis Garcia (Miami, Fla./Florida Christian) hit a pair of treys and scored eight points during the run as Marietta led 33-17, with 8:19 remaining in the first half.

Marietta closed the opening period on a 10-1 run and took a 54-34 lead into halftime. With 12 three-pointers in the game, the Pioneers were able to extend the lead to as many as 37 points in the second half.

Junior Brennan McKean (Jeromesville/Northwestern) led four Pioneers in double figures. McKean equaled his career-high with five three-pointers and finished with 19 points. Garcia scored 14 points off the bench.

AJ Davis had 13 points and a game-high seven rebounds, including four offensive boards. RaNeal Ewing (Westerville/Dublin Scioto) chipped in with 10 points and seven assists.

Rhodes was the lone Cardinal to reach double figures with 14 points. Andy Yazrombek had a team-high six rebounds.

The Pioneers outrebounded Otterbein 39-31. For the game, Marietta shot 50.8% (33-of-65) from the floor, 42.9% (12-of-28) behind the arc and 86.7% (26-of-30) at the line. Otterbein was 24-of-55 (43.6%) from the floor, 6-of-20 (30.0%) from three-point range and 14-of-21 (66.7%) at the free throw line.
