MARIETTA, Ohio – Thomas More College (Ky.) recorded a 5-0 shutout of Marietta College Saturday (Sept. 28) afternoon in women's soccer. The Pioneers fall to 2-7 overall, while Thomas More improves to 6-1-2 on the season.
The Saints scored the first of three first-half goals just 7:00 minutes in the match. Olivia Huber took a cross from Courtney Clark and slipped the ball past the Pioneer keeper. Thomas More added goals in the 27th and 30th minutes for a 3-0 at halftime.
Huber struck again a minute into the second period. Clark scored her second goal, of the match in the 62nd minute for the 5-0 final margin.
Senior
Kaitlyn Pearse (Galena/Olentangy Orange) went the distance in goal for the Pioneers. She made three saves on the day. Christy Smith and Sarah LaCombe combined for two saves in goal for the Saints.
For the match, Thomas More took 15 shots to just two for the Pioneers. The Saints also took nine corners, while Marietta had none.
