TIFFIN, Ohio – A pair of second half goals lifted Heidelberg University over Marietta College Saturday (Oct. 5) afternoon in Ohio Athletic Conference women's soccer action. The Pioneers fall to 2-8 overall and 0-1 in the OAC. Heidelberg improves to 2-8-1 on the season and 1-0 in the OAC.
After an evenly played first half, the Student Princes turned up the pressure in the second half. Heidelberg took 10 shots to just one for Marietta in the final 45 minutes.
Natalie Bennett scored the game-winner in the 65th minute. Bennett launched a shot from over 25-yards out that snuck in under the crossbar for a 1-0 Berg lead.
Jeannette Jinkinson added an unassisted goal in the 74th minute for the final margin.
Senior
Kaitlyn Pearse (Galena/Olentangy Orange) had four saves in goal for the Pioneers. Molly Schriber made one save for the Student Princes.
For the match Heidelberg outshot Marietta 15-3. The Student Princes also held a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks.
