MARIETTA, Ohio – Thomas More College (Ky.) scored a goal four minutes into the second sudden death overtime period to beat Marietta College 2-1 Saturday (Sept. 28) afternoon in men's soccer action. The Pioneers drop to 3-6 overall, while the Saint move to 6-2 on the season.
Thomas More jumped on top in the 39th minute when Jake Plummer crossed the ball into the six-yard box where Wheeler Blersch one-timed it into the lower right corner for a 1-0 lead. The Saints took the one goal advantage into halftime.
The game turned physical in the second half with 12 fouls and four yellow cards issued. Blersch was given a yellow card for a foul in the penalty box at the 82:20 mark.
