TIFFIN, Ohio – The Marietta College men's soccer team lost to Heidelberg University 1-0 Saturday (Oct. 5) afternoon in the Ohio Athletic Conference opener for both schools. The Pioneers fall to 3-7 overall, 0-1 OAC, while Heidelberg moves to 7-2 and 1-0.
The Student Prince defense limited Marietta's chance all afternoon. Marietta managed just three shots in the match, all from
Taylor Reasoner (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson).
Despite a 7-1 advantage in shots, Heidelberg failed to convert any scoring chances in the first half.
Christopher Koczak scored the lone goal of the match in the 53rd minute. Koczak took a pass from Hamid Shariff and lobbed a shot over the Marietta keeper for the game-winner.
For the match, Heidelberg outshot Marietta 17-3. The Student Princes took three corner kicks to just two for the Pioneers.
Senior
Chris Stollar (Marietta/Marietta) made five saves in goal for Marietta. Matthew Stevens made two saves for Heidelberg.
