MARIETTA, Ohio – Capital University swept Marietta College Tuesday (Oct. 22) evening in Ohio Athletic Conference volleyball action. The Crusaders posted set scores of 25-11, 25-16 and 25-15.
Marietta (11-15 overall, 1-5 OAC) struggled on the attack all evening. The Pioneers had a negative attack percentage in two of the three sets and finished with 23 kills and 25 errors.
Capital (14-12, 2-4 OAC) was led by freshman outside hitter Courtney McCracken who notched seven kills and a .375 attack percentage. Hanna Ewart and Mona Ratliff, both freshmen, also had seven kills in the match.
Sophomore
Keri Horton (Westland, Mich./Wayne Memorial) had a match-high eight kills for Marietta. Senior
Paige DeVriendt (Bowling Green/Bowling Green) added seven kills and two blocks.
Pioneer junior setter
Laura Mauer (Terre Haute, Ind./North) dished out 18 assists, while sophomore libero
Mary Ervin (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy Orange) tallied 12 digs.
