NEW CONCORD, Ohio – Marietta College posted a 3-0 win over rival Muskingum University Tuesday (Oct. 15) evening in Ohio Athletic Conference volleyball action. Marietta notched the sweep with set scores of 25-19, 25-20 and 25-22.
The Pioneers improve to 11-13 overall and 1-3 in the OAC, while the Fighting Muskies fall to 10-11 on the season and 1-3 in the OAC.
Sophomore middle blocker
Chloe Janson (Lawrenceburg, Ind./East Central) led the Pioneer attack with a match-high 10 kills. Janson and fellow sophomore
Keri Horton (Westland, Mich./Wayne Memorial) each recorded three blocks in the match.
Junior
Rachel Hackenberg (Canal Winchester/Franklin Heights) added nine kills, while sophomore
Kennedy Clyde (Chagrin Falls/Hawken School) chipped in with seven. Junior setter
Laura Mauer (Terre Haute, Ind./North) dished out 35 assists and had 11 digs in the win.
Sophomore libero
Mary Ervin (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy Orange) had a team-best 24 digs. Clyde posted 15 digs and a pair of service aces, while senior defensive specialist
Amber Wiley (Brunswick/Brookside) had 14 digs on the back line.
