UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – Marietta College lost to John Carroll University by the score of 7-0 Saturday (Oct. 12) afternoon in Ohio Athletic Conference women's soccer action. The Blue Streaks (4-6-3 overall, 1-2 OAC) scored five first half goals in the shutout. Marietta drops to 2-10 on the season and 0-3 in the OAC.
Junior forward Kaylin Akerly was involved in five of John Carroll's goals scoring two and assisting on three others. Senior Kristen Profeta scored the first goal of the match at the 1:51 mark when she headed in a pass from Andrea Regrut.
Senior Nicki Bohrer scored the first of her two goals in the eighth minute with an assist from Akerly. Fellow senior, Genny Goergen made it 3-0 three minutes later as Akerly picked up her second assist.
Akerly scored the Blue Streaks' final two goals of the first period giving JCU a 5-0 lead at halftime. Bohrer and Goergen accounted for John Carroll's two goals in the second half.
Senior
Kaitlyn Pearse (Galena/Olentangy Orange) started in goal for the Pioneers and made four saves before leaving the match in the 58th minute. Freshman
Sam Kelley (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) played the final 32:25 without a save.
Junior Haley McDonald went the distance in net for the Blue Streaks. McDonald made four saves and recorded her first shutout of the season.
For the match, John Carroll outshot Marietta 20-9. The Blue Streaks took five corner kicks, while the Pioneers were held without a corner.
