Box Score MARIETTA, Ohio — Marietta College extended its win streak to four games and opened the second half of Ohio Athletic Conference play with a 98-87 victory over visiting Wilmington College Saturday (Jan. 19) inside Ban Johnson Arena.
The Pioneers improved their record to 13-4 overall and 9-1 in league play. They swept the season series with the Quakers (8-9, 5-6 OAC) and now hold a one-game lead over the rest of the OAC following today's 79-67 loss by Capital at Baldwin Wallace.
Senior #J.J. Martin# posted his third double-double of the season to lead the Marietta with 32 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. He hits 13 of his 18 shots from the field, including 4-of-7 from beyond the arc.

Jacob Owens (Mansfield/Mansfield), the hero in Wednesday's buzzer-beating victory over the Crusaders, continued his hot shooting and finished with 20 points. Owens hit 4-of-5 from long range and has now made 13-of-15 three-point field goals over the last three games.

Scott Kimmey (Olmsted Falls/Olmsted Falls) connected on a trio of three-pointers to contribute 12 points. Junior
Tyler Hammond (Cleveland/St. Ignatius) contributed nine points and a game-high five assists, while senior
Tyler Worstell (Prospect/Franklin Heights) added seven points in the victory.
Four Wilmington players finished in double digits, including Brandon Candella and Jordan Berlin who poured in 22 points apiece. Malcolm Heard added 15 points and Ben Bonderhaar had 10 in the loss, which snapped a four-game Quaker win streak.
Marietta finished 32-of-57 (56.1%) from the field, including 13-of-23 (56.5%) from beyond the arc. The Pioneers also added 21-of-28 (75.0% from the free throw line and dominated the boards, 44-27. Wilmington shot 33-of-72 (45.8%) overall and 7-of-25 (28.0%) from three-point range. The Quakers also connected on 14-of-19 (73.7%) from the charity stripe.
Wilmington jumped out to an early 10-5 advantage in the game. Kimmey's three-point play gave Marietta is first lead of the day, 11-10, with 15:05 to go in the half. After the Quakers regained a one-point lead on their next possession, freshmen
Luis Garcia (Miami, Fla./Florida Christian) drained a three-pointer to put his squad back on top, and Marietta never trailed again.
The Pioneers entered the locker room leading 41-34. Marietta then outscored Wilmington 20-6 over the first 4:23 of the second half to take complete control of the game. The Pioneers maintained a safe lead the rest of the way en route to the 98-87 win.
Marietta is back in action Wednesday (Jan. 23) when it visits Westerville for a 7:30 p.m. match-up with host Otterbein University (6-11, 3-7 OAC). The Pioneers defeated the Cardinals 90-62 on Fenton Court in the first meeting December 1. Fans can catch the action live at
