MARIETTA, Ohio – The Marietta College softball team swept an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader from Baldwin-Wallace College Sunday (April 29) afternoon at Marietta Field. The Pioneers won the first game 1-0 and completed the sweep with a 9-1 win in the nitecap. [

Marietta finishes the season with a 20-18 overall record and an 8-10 OAC slate. Baldwin-Wallace ends the year 18-20 and 6-12 in the conference.
The first game was a battle between the two pitchers. Yellow Jacket sophomore Tabitha Murray and Pioneer freshman #
Alexis O'Hair (Maumee/Maumee)# went toe to toe for seven innings.
Murray had a no-hitter through five innings before Marietta collected a pair of singles in the bottom of the sixth. Junior second baseman #
Katie Swejk (Tallmadge/Tallmadge)# led off the inning with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by freshman third baseman #

Michelle Sayre (Ripley, W.Va./Ripley)# plated Swejk with a ground out to the shortstop for the 1-0 lead.
Murray (7-8) threw six innings in the losing effort. She allowed one earned run on two base hits. Murray walked three and struck out eight.
O'Hair (12-7) tossed seven shutout innings scattering nine base hits. She walked one and struck out one.
Marietta used a five-run third inning to take control of the second game. The Pioneers scored one in the first when Mayo and Sayre each doubled. In the third inning, junior #
Trayla Liles (Tollesboro, Ky./Lewis County)# crushed a three-run home run over the fence in right center to extend the Pioneer lead to 6-0. It was Liles' first home run of the season.
The Pioneers added an unearned run in the fourth and two more runs in the sixth. Junior right fielder #
Kirstie Welch (Pickerington/North)# ended the game with a two-run line drive single to left that scored Sayre and McDaniel giving Marietta the 9-1 mercy rule win.

Hazel Brogdon (Chugiak, Alaska/Chugiak)# (3-3) pitched six innings and allowed one earned run on five hits. She walked one and didn't strikeout a Yellow Jacket batter.
Justina Wise (4-8) started and took the loss for B-W. Wise pitched 2.2 innings and was charged with six runs, all earned, on seven hits with three walks. Murray threw the final 2.2 innings and allowed three runs, two earned, on three his. She walked two.
Welch led the Pioneers' offense going-2-for-4 with three runs batted in. Liles was 1-for-2 with the three-run home run.
