MARIETTA, Ohio – The Marietta College women's basketball dropped a hard-fought Ohio Athletic Conference game to visiting Wilmington College Saturday (Dec. 8) afternoon by the score of 66-61. With the loss, the Pioneers fall to 4-4 overall and 1-3 in the OAC.
The first half was back and forth with nine lead changes and neither team led by more than seven points. Senior Emily Zimmerman hit a pair of free throws with 1:31 left in the period to give the Quakers a seven-point lead, 39-32.
Wilmington (6-2 overall, 2-0 OAC) took a 40-34 advantage into halftime.
The Quakers came out in the second 20 minutes and built a double-digit lead. Sophomore Spencer Robles, Wilmington's leading scorer coming into the game averaging 9.4 ppg, drained a three-pointer with 12:49 on the clock to push the lead to 10 points, 51-41.
The Pioneers responded with a 15-4 run to take their first lead of the second half, 56-55, with 6:31 left in the game. Sophomore #
Heather Booth (Newport/Frontier)# scored nine of her team-leading 14 points during the run.
Following a 58-58 tie score, Wilmington outscored the Pioneers 8-3 over the final 4:53 to secure the victory.
Booth hit all five of her field goal attempts to lead the Pioneers with 14 points. She also grabbed six rebounds. Junior #
Paige Lamb (Marietta/Marietta)#, making her first start of the season, scored 10 points including a pair of three-pointers.

Lindsay Deemer (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum)# pulled down a team-high seven rebounds, while classmates #
Candice Alexander (Fairborn/Fairborn)# and #
Sierra Sigman (Chillicothe/Zane Trace)# had five and four steals, respectively.
Wilmington senior Brianna Peters led all scorers with 17 points. She was the lone Quaker to reach double figures. Junior Makenzie Wippel had a game-high nine boards.
For the game, Marietta was 22-of-54 (40.7%) from the floor, 4-of-12 (33.3%) from three-point range and 13-of-25 at the free throw line. Wilmington shot 40.7% (22-of-54) from the floor, 33.3% (4-of-12) from behind the arc and 60.0% (18-of-30) at the line.
The Quakers had a slim edge in rebounds, 39-35, and each team turned the ball over 20 times.
