MARIETTA, Ohio – The No. 14-ranked University of Mount Union volleyball team swept Marietta College 3-0 Wednesday (Oct. 3) evening in Ban Johnson Arena. The Purple Raiders posted set scores of 25-20, 25-15 and 25-13 to improve to 15-4 overall and 2-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. The Pioneers drop to 13-5 on the season and 2-1 in league play.
Marietta got off to a strong start in the first set and took an early 12-9 lead. The Pioneers maintained the lead and forced a Mount Union timeout at 17-14. The Purple Raiders won six straight points after the timeout to claim the lead 20-17 en route to the 25-20 first set victory.
Mount Union built early leads in each of the next two sets. The Purple Raiders led by as many as 11 points, 20-9, in the second set and controlled the third set from start to finish.
Neither team had a player reach double figures in kills. Nicole Snyder had a match-high nine kills for the Purple Raiders.

Laura Mauer (Terre Haute, Ind./North)# posted a match-high in assists with 22. Defensively, senior libero #
Jen Braun (Chagrin Falls/Kenston)# had 12 digs. #
Amber Wiley (Brunswick/Brookside)# added nine digs and Mauer recorded two blocks.
