Mount Union downs Women's Soccer 3-1

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Marietta College women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision at the University of Mount Union Wednesday (Oct. 3) evening. The Purple Raiders move to 7-3 overall and 1-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. With the loss, the Pioneers are now 3-7 on the season and 1-1 in the OAC.

Mount Union jumped on top in the 12th minute of the match. A Pioneer defender blocked Kylee Kolesar's shot, but Shannon Evans controlled the deflection and put the ball in the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.

The Purple Raiders increased their lead to 3-0 with a pair of goals in the second half. Kolesar fired the ball into the upper right-hand corner of the net in the 61st minute, while Kolbie Haines scored with an assist from Jackie Lowdermilk in the 78th minute.

The Pioneers spoiled the clean sheet for Mount Union when #Melina Feitl (Broadview Heights/Holy Name)# took a pass from #Erin Panczyk (Twinsburg/Twinsburg)# and rifled the ball past the Purple Raider keeper for the goal.

Maria Favorite made four saves in goal for Mount Union. #Kaitlyn Pearse (Galena/Olentangy Orange)# recorded seven saves for the Pioneers.

Mount Union took 17 shots to Marietta's five. The Purple Raiders also had an 8-4 edge in corner kicks.
