MARIETTA, Ohio – Marietta College's women's soccer team lost a hard-fought 2-1 decision to Wilmington College Saturday (Oct. 20) afternoon. The Quakers improve to 11-5-1 on the season and 4-3 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. The Pioneers move to 3-11-1 overall and 1-5-1 in the OAC.
Wilmington took a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute. Lauren Price dribble down the right side of the box and centered the ball to the top of the six where Camille Gentile was waiting. Gentile's shot to the left post found the back of the net.
Leading 1-0, the Quakers Rachelle Bowden came in off the bench and caused Marietta all kinds of problems. Bowden made it 2-0 in the 33rd minute when she dribble through the Pioneer defense into the box and created a one-on-one with keeper #
Kaitlyn Pearse (Galena/Olentangy Orange)#.
Bowden slipped the ball into the lower left corner for the game-winner. Bowden would take eight shots in the match. She scored a goal; hit the crossbar twice and the post once.
The Pioneers continued to battle and ended the potential shutout in the 83rd minute. Junior #

Erin Panczyk (Twinsburg/Twinsburg)#. Panczyk placed the shot inside the left post for her third goal of the season cutting the Quaker lead to 2-1.
Pearse recorded 11 saves in goal for the Pioneers, while Sarah Stauffer had three saves for the Quakers.
For the match, Wilmington took 22 shots with 13 of them on frame. Marietta had six shots including four on goal. The Quakers had a 7-2 edge in corner kicks.
