MARIETTA, Ohio – A record-setting afternoon by senior quarterback #Andrew Keller (Cincinnati/Glen Este)# wasn't enough as the Student Princes of Heidelberg University downed Marietta College 42-20 Saturday afternoon at Don Drumm Stadium. Keller threw for a school record 412 yards. [Box Score]

This was Keller's second 400-yard passing performance of the season after throwing for 401 yards against John Carroll. The previous single game record was 410 yards set by Justin Papania in 2002 against Muskingum. Keller's aerial assault included four completions of 40-yards or longer.

The Pioneers opened the scoring with a 69-yard pass from Keller to sophomore wide receiver #Tannon Roberts (West Palm Beach, Fla./Berean Christian)# with 2:13 left in the first quarter. Following a Heidelberg score early in the second, Keller and Roberts connected again, this time on a 59-yard scoring strike.

With the Pioneers leading 14-7, Heidelberg sophomore tail back Cartel Brooks carried the ball off tackle and appeared to be stopped for a small gain. Brooks somehow managed to get away from the pile and raced 63-yards for a touchdown to tie the game at, 14-14.

The Student Prince ground attack caused Marietta problems all afternoon. Sophomore tailback Germany Woods dove in from a yard out with 29 seconds left in the first half to give Heidelberg the lead, 21-14, at the break.

Woods and Brooks chewed up the yards all day. Woods carried the ball 34 times for 226 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Brooks gained 191 yards on just 11 carries and scored twice.

Marietta cut the lead to 21-20 as time ran out in the third quarter. Keller scored from the one, but the senior kicker #Nate Zarnoski# had his PAT blocked by senior linebacker Andy Fadenholz.

Heidelberg scored 21 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to seal the victory. Freshman quarterback Michael Mees hit junior wide receiver Josh Lynch on a five yard touchdown to give the 'Berg a 28-20 lead.

Woods scored on a three-yard run with 3:36 left and then Brooks broke off an 83-yard touchdown run with just over a minute left in the game to close out the scoring.

Keller ended the day 26-of-49 for 412 yards and two touchdowns. He was picked off twice. Senior wide receiver #Chad Walker (Spring Hill, Fla./Central)# had 10 receptions for 143 yards. Roberts caught seven passes for 197 yards and two scores.

Sophomore running back #Kyle Booth (Lewisburg/Tri-County North)# led the Pioneers with 36 yards rushing on 20 carries.

Mees finished 5-of-12 for 74 yards passing with a touchdown and an interception.

Marietta travels to Ada next week for a 1:30 p.m. showdown with Ohio Northern University.
