MARIETTA, Ohio – The Yellow Jackets of Baldwin-Wallace College scored 14 fourth quarter points en route to a 17-7 victory over Marietta College Saturday afternoon at Don Drumm Stadium. The win moves Baldwin-Wallace to 3-1 on the season, 2-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Marietta falls to 1-3 overall and 0-3 in the OAC. [Box Score]

The first half was a battle of the defenses as neither team managed to put points on the board until sophomore Chris Mohler hit a 20-yard field goal for B-W as time ran out in the second quarter.

The Yellow Jackets had a couple of scoring opportunities in the first half but twice failed to convert on fourth down. B-W turned the ball over on downs at the Pioneer 19-yard line and was intercepted at the MC 25-yard line. B-W also missed a 32-yard field goal attempt.

Marietta took the lead, 7-3, when senior quarterback Kyle Shackle (Butler/Mount Vernon) hit sophomore wide receiver #Tannon Roberts (West Palm Beach, Fla./Berean Christian)# on a 9-yard scoring strike with 3:01 left in third quarter. Shackle took over for starter #Andrew Keller (Cincinnati/Glen Este)# who was knocked out of the game earlier in the period.

The Pioneers' drive was given extra life when the Yellow Jackets were called for roughing the kicker after what should have been a three and out for the B-W defense.

Baldwin-Wallace responded with a seven play, 70-yard scoring drive. Junior running back Tyler Lohr capped the drive with a 13-yard scamper to give the Yellow Jackets a 10-7 lead.

Marietta's hopes for a come from behind victory were dashed when senior linebacker John Harasyn stepped in front of a Shackle pass and returned it 48-yards to pay dirt.

B-W freshman running back Willie Jackson carried the ball 18 times for 119 yards, while Lohr also had 18 carries and gained 112 yards. Junior quarterback Ryan O'Rourke was 8-of-25 for 92 yards and three interceptions. Senior defensive end Derron Hamilton recorded 3.5 sacks and 11 total tackles to lead the Yellow Jacket defense.

Keller completed 6-of-17 passes for 56 yards before leaving the game. Keller was intercepted twice. Shackle finished the game 4-of-12 for 36 yards. Shackle was also picked off twice. Junior running back #Tevin Dones (Antioch, Calif./Antioch)# was MC's leading rusher with 65 yards on 18 carries. Freshman defensive back #Jake Green (Yulee, Fla./Yulee)# was Marietta's leading tackler with 12 total stops. Green also had an interception.

The Pioneers travel to Alliance next Saturday, October 8th for a 1:30 p.m. showdown with the No. 2-ranked Mount Union Purple Raiders.
