THE RECORDS: Marietta enters the fifth week of the season with a record of 1-2 overall and 0-2 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Baldwin-Wallace carries an undefeated record into the match-up as it is 3-0, 2-0 in league play.

GAME TIME: 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 2, George Finnie Stadium in Berea, Ohio.

THE COACHES: Marietta's Jeff Filkovski is in his third season as the leader of the Pioneers. He is the former signal caller for the Cologne Centurions of NFL Europe. Filkovski, who earned his bachelor's degree from Allegheny College in 1991, led the Gators to a national championship in 1990. Baldwin-Wallace's John Snell is in his ninth year as the Yellow Jackets head football coach. The 1987 graduate of Baldwin-Wallace has a 52-33 record at his alma mater.

ALL-TIME SERIES: Saturday marks the 33rd time that the two teams will meet on the gridiron. The series began in 1974 with Baldwin-Wallace winning 73-0. It was the first of 17 straight wins for the Yellow Jackets in the series. Marietta, however, has captured three of the last six meetings, dating back to 2004.

LAST MEETING: Host Baldwin-Wallace knocked Marietta from the ranks of the unbeaten with a 34-13 victory on Sept. 26, 2009. Baldwin-Wallace out gained Marietta 512-347 in total offense, including 319-136 on the ground. The Pioneers held a 211-193 advantage in passing yards.

WATCH THE ACTION: Today's game is being broadcast on tape delay by SportsTime Ohio. It will air in its entirety Saturday at 11 p.m.

RADIO COVERAGE: Marietta College is scheduled to have WMRT-FM 88.3, its student radio station, broadcast the game for Pioneer fans. The broadcast will take the air with a short pregame at 1:50 p.m. Baldwin-Wallace will also have its student station cover the game for its fans.

NEXT GAME: On Oct. 9, Marietta will return home to host #2 University of Mount Union. Kickoff at Don Drumm Stadium is slated for 1:30 p.m. Baldwin-Wallace, meanwhile, will welcome Otterbein in a game at 2 p.m.

85TH SEASON OF OAC PLAY: Saturday's game will continue Marietta's 85th season of football in the OAC. The Pioneers, who joined the league in 1926, are 171-316-11 (.355) all-time in Conference play.

THIS WEEK IN THE OAC: All 10 OAC schools are in action in week five at 1:30 p.m. In addition to the Marietta at Baldwin-Wallace game, Wilmington travels to Muskingum, John Carroll visits Otterbein, Capital plays host to Heidelberg and Mount Union welcomes Ohio Northern.

CAPTAINS ANNOUNCED: Marietta College will have four captains during the 2010 season: senior offensive lineman Cameron Kiger (Rockbridge/Logan), senior fullback Rich Klingel (Marion/River Valley), senior defensive lineman Pete Santagate (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) and senior defensive lineman Adam Tate (Chesterhill/Federal Hocking).

NATIONAL SPOTLIGHT: The OAC has two teams ranked in the d3football.com Top 25: #2 Mount Union and #8 Ohio Northern. Otterbein and Baldwin-Wallace also received votes.

NATIONAL REPRESENTATION: Marietta's roster currently features 94 total student-athletes—52 from Ohio, 12 from Florida, 8 from Pennsylvania, 4 from Texas, 3 from West Virginia, 2 from California, Georgia, Maryland and South Carolina, 1 from Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York.

GETTING OFF TO A QUICK START: Marietta will look to get off to a fast start out of the locker room after struggling in the first half in recent years. The Pioneers were out scored 85-20 in the first quarter and 105-30 in the second quarter of 2009. In 2010, Marietta has out scored its opponent 17-7 in the first quarter but is getting out scored 31-6 in the second quarter. In addition, the Pioneers trail 21-3 in third quarter scoring but lead 43-3 in fourth quarter scoring.

CONTROLLING THE CLOCK: Marietta will look to dominate the time of possession in 2010. Last year, the Pioneers led in time of possession in five games. This year, Marietta will look improve that number and to turn that time into more points on the scoreboard. The Pioneers, however, have trailed in time of possession in all three games this season.

TURNOVERS: Marietta has worked to improve its turnover margin after struggling in the category in recent years. In 2009, the Pioneers ranked 10th in the OAC and 222nd in NCAA Division III with a -14 turnover margin. Marietta enters week four with a +5 turnover margin, which is tied for the OAC lead and ranked 19th in the NCAA.

CENTURY MARK: Senior wide receiver Cory Kriechbaum (Marietta/Marietta), who set career highs in receptions (11) and receiving yards (129), caught his 100th career pass Saturday against the Blue Streaks. His career 101 catches have totaled 956 yards.

DID YOU KNOW: Junior Andrew Keller (Cincinnati/Glen Este) tied a career-high with 27 completions and also eclipsed 2,000 career passing yards at John Carroll. He has now thrown for 2,165 career yards.

DON DRUMM STADIUM PROJECT:

TAKE A KID TO THE GAME DAY: Mark your calendar for Oct. 9 when Marietta will once again participate in the national “Take a Kid to the Game” program. Kids, ages 14 and younger, will receive a free ticket with the purchase of a full-priced adult ticket ($5) to watch the Pioneers and Purple Raiders battle in Ohio Athletic Conference football action. It will also be Youth Day at Don Drumm Stadium.

HOMECOMING: Mark your calendar for Oct. 29-31 when Marietta will celebrate Homecoming 2010. A full weekend of activities will be centered around the Pioneers' OAC battle with Ohio Northern University. Kickoff is slated for 1:30 p.m.
