DEFIANCE, Ohio — The Marietta College men's soccer team could not overcome an early two-goal deficit and suffered a 2-1 loss to host Defiance College Saturday (Sept. 11) afternoon. The Pioneers fell to 0-1-2, while the Yellow Jackets improved to 2-1-1. [

For a second straight game, Marietta out shot it opponent, this time 17-8, but struggled to convert its many opportunities. The Pioneers had 14 shots on goal compared to four by the Yellow Jackets.
Defiance took a 1-0 advantage with a goal in the 6th minute. The Yellow Jackets then added to their lead with a second goal in the 33rd minute. Senior defender
Ryan Wong (Granville/Granville) pulled the Pioneers within a goal in the 68th minute. Marietta had five more solid chances down the stretch but the Defiance keeper made a save each time to preserve the win.
