MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College men's basketball team suffered a 70-57 non-conference decision to the visiting Adrian College Tuesday (Dec. 15) night at Fenton Court. The loss dropped the Pioneers' record to 3-5 on the year, while the Bulldogs improved to 4-3. [

Marietta was led by sophomore forward
Kevin Knab (Lakewood, Lakewood), who recorded his second double-double of the season, with game-highs in points (18) and rebounds (12). Knab also led his Pioneer squad with 3 assists and 3 blocks on the night. Freshman guard
Jacob Owens (Mansfield, Mansfield) added 15 points, while sophomore guard
Joe Puch (Brunswick, Brunswick) scored 14.
Michael Staley led the Bulldogs with 16 points. Wesley Reed scored 13 points, and Raymond Reed added 12 off the bench for the Bulldogs in the victory.
Trailing by nine points, 34-25, at the half, the Pioneers cut the lead down to three, 42-39, with 12:58 to go in regulation. The Pioneers however; would not score in the next 5:56 of the game, while the Bulldogs managed a 16-0 run to put the game out of reach, 58-39, with 7:02 left in the period. The Pioneers managed to get the margin down nine points, 64-55, with 1:20 to go, but could not get any it closer and fell 70-57.
For the game, Marietta finished shooting 19-of-49 (38.8%) from the field, 7-of-28 (25%) from behind the arc and 12-of-15 (80%) from the free throw line. Adrian shot 20-of-48 (41.7%) from the field, 5-of-14 (35.7%) from three-point range and 25-of-30 (83.3%) from the free throw line. The Bulldogs led in rebounding 33-29 and committed 15 turnovers to Marietta's 18.
The Pioneers are back in action on Saturday (Dec.19) afternoon at John Carroll University. Tip-of is slated for 3 p.m.
