BEREA — It was as if someone had flipped a switch.
The Marietta team that fell to Baldwin Wallace in the season's final games was nowhere to be seen at the OAC Tournament. In its place stood a juggernaut, pounding out 21 hits en route to a 19-5 demolition of those same Yellow Jackets.
Marietta exacted some revenge in the winner's bracket game of on Friday, May 16, at BW.
Drew Witouski and Mike Brandts led the charge for Marietta (38-10-2), each blasting two home runs. Witouski went 2-for-5 with six RBI, while Brandts had an impressive 4-for-6 day at the plate, driving in five runs. Roger Thompson contributed two hits and three RBI, and Kirk Atha added a perfect 2-for-2 performance with two RBI.
Mike Kramer (6-1) earned the win on the mound for the Pioneers, scattering 10 hits and giving up four runs over 5 2/3 innings.
Despite the lopsided score, Baldwin Wallace had some offensive bright spots. Dave Rozzo went 4-for-5 with one RBI, while Erik Young and Joe Velky each homered for the Yellow Jackets.
With this convincing win, Marietta advances to the championship game on Saturday.
