PANAMA CITY, Fla. — Marietta College concluded the Florida portion of its trip on a down note, falling to Bradley 13-8 on Saturday, March 15. The loss brought the Pioneers' record to 10-4-2.
Marietta will face Centre College in a doubleheader on Sunday in Danville, Kentucky.
Bradley's offense proved too much for Marietta to handle, with Brad Tilley leading the charge by blasting a three-run home run. Daren Epley also had a strong game for Bradley, going 2-for-3 with three RBI. Eric Kuhlman contributed to the offensive outburst with two hits and two RBI.
On the mound for Bradley, Scott Fuhrmann picked up the win with 1 1/3 innings of relief work.
Marietta's Eric Shoup had a tough day on the mound, taking the loss after surrendering 10 runs on seven hits over 3 2/3 innings. However, Shoup showed resilience at the plate, going 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Despite the loss, Marietta's offense showed some life. Mike Brandts provided a spark with a home run and three RBI, while Darrin Spitzer chipped in with a single and two RBI.
