PANAMA CITY, Fla. — Marietta College continued its winning ways on Friday, March 14, defeating Brooklyn 5-3 in a tightly contested game. The victory improved the Pioneers' record to an impressive 9-3-1 on their Florida trip.
Jim Anderson was the standout performer for Marietta, turning in a dominant pitching performance. Anderson struck out seven batters while allowing just three hits over the course of the game. The win improved his personal record to 2-0 on the season, further solidifying his role as a key member of the Pioneers' pitching staff.
At the plate, Eric Shoup led the way for Marietta, going 2-for-4 to pace the offense. Bill Holmes made his hits count, finishing 1-for-3 with two crucial RBI that helped secure the victory.
Sean Risley continued his strong play, contributing a double to the Pioneers' offensive effort. Scott McVicar also chipped in with a single, as Marietta did just enough offensively to support Anderson's stellar outing on the mound.
