PANAMA CITY, Fla. — Marietta College suffered its second consecutive loss on Wednesday, March 12, falling to Southeast Missouri State 2-0 in a tightly contested pitchers' duel. The defeat dropped the Pioneers' record to 5-3-1 during their Florida trip.
 
Southeast Missouri State's Kelly Sandheinrich turned in a masterful performance on the mound, tossing a complete-game shutout. Sandheinrich limited Marietta to just five hits while keeping them off the scoreboard for the entire game.
 
Marietta's Mike Kramer nearly matched Sandheinrich pitch for pitch, allowing only six hits and two runs in a strong outing. Despite Kramer's efforts, the lack of run support proved costly for the Pioneers.
 
Eric Shoup was the lone bright spot for Marietta's offense, going 2-for-3 at the plate. However, the Pioneers couldn't string together enough hits to push any runs across against Sandheinrich's dominant pitching.
 
For Southeast Missouri State, Chris Shadowens provided all the offense needed, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.
