MARIETTA — Marietta rallied for 10 runs over the final three innings to defeat Cal-State Stanislaus 13-12 in the NCAA Division III World Series at Pioneer Park on Friday, June 3.
Trailing 12-3, the Pioneers scored four in the seventh, one in the eighth and five in the ninth to walk off with the win.
Jim Pancher, who went 5-for-5, singled home Jeff Wiktorski with two outs in the ninth keeping the Etta Express' hopes of a championship alive.
Marietta amassed eight hits over the final three innings, while Ron Fama (7-2) pitched the final 3 2/3 innings for the win.
Steve Riley and John Hefner both had two hits for Marietta (46-9), while Riley had two RBI and Mark Talarico had a single and two RBI.
Don Owens went 3-for-5 with a double, three RBI and three runs for Stanislaus, while Jim Washburn went 4-for-6 with an RBI.
