Pioneers improve to 2-0 in OAC play with blowout win

MARIETTA — Marietta's lineup showed up big time on Saturday.
 
The Etta Express (20-5, 2-0) totaled 15 hits in a 16-3 victory over Wittenberg in an Ohio Athletic Conference game at Pioneer Park on April 9.
 
Mark Talarico led the charge by going 3-for-3 with three RBI and a double, while Jeff Wiktorski added a two-run home run for the Pioneers. Jim Pancher went 2-for-4 with two RBI, two runs and a triple.
 
Also getting multiple hits for MC were Jon Finke (2-for-4), Jeff Chaney (2-for-3) and Gary Kohls (2-for-2 with four RBI).
 
Ron Fama (4-1) notched the victory by allowing no hits and no runs over the final 3 1/3 innings. Wittenberg designated hitter Eric Haudenschild and shortstop Dave Tobias each had two hits.
