MARIETTA — Terry Mulholland allowed just two hits and one unearned run, while striking out 11 as Marietta defeated Capital 7-1 in an Ohio Athletic Conference game at Pioneer Park on Tuesday, April 12.
In Mulholland's last two starts the hard-throwing lefty has allowed three hits and one run. He is now 7-0.
Marietta capitalized on timely hitting and Capital errors to score six runs in the second inning, and provide Mulholland with plenty of breathing room.
Mark Talarico had a double and three RBI for Marietta (21-5, 3-0), while Jeff Chaney went 2-for-3 with one run. He was also hit by a pitch from Capital starter Boyd Moehring.
The Pioneers also put plenty of pressure on the Crusaders' defense by stealing four bases — one each by Jim Pancher, Marty Sberna, Bill Varley and Chaney.
