MARIETTA — Neither team played a clean game, but Marietta did enough to down Glenville State 12-6 in a non-conference mid-week game at Pioneer Park.
In typical fashion, Coach Don Schaly decided before the game to throw multiple pitchers and starter Jim Katschke (3-0) had the strongest showing. Katschke struck out two and allowed two hits and one run over three innings.
Roger Hart allowed two runs over the middle three innings and Ron Fama allowed three runs over the final three frames.
Marty Sberna had a triple, two RBI and two runs for Marietta (25-6), while Jim Pancher went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI. Mark Talarico and Jon Finke also had two hits each, while Gary Kohls and Jeff Wiktorski had two RBI each.
Glenville's Randy Edge belted a three-run homer in the loss.
