PANAMA CITY, Fla. — Marietta's John Hefner went 3-for-4 with four RBI and a home run to lead the Pioneers to a convincing 14-5 victory over NCAA Division opponent Illinois State on Thursday, March 10.
Hefner also belted a double, while Jeff Wiktorski had a double, homer and four RBI. Bill Varley also had a homer, and Jon Shuler, Steve Riley, Marty Sberna and Marc Moavero all had two hits in the win.
Jim Katschke (2-0) gave up seven hits and struck out four in five innings, while Mark Talarico and John Hamborsky tossed the final two innings.
ISU's Paul Giersz went 3-for-4 with two RBI, while Scott Theis belted a solo homer.
