MARIETTA — Capital catcher Aaron McInturf capped off a six-run, ninth-inning rally to lead the Crusaders past Marietta 7-5 in an Ohio Athletic Conference game at Pioneer Park on Thursday, April 23.
Marietta's Dale Hurst (7-2) was pitching a gem when he gave up three unearned runs in the final frame. He finished with nine strikeouts and gave up just eight hits and one walk in the loss.
Buddy Woods and Aaron Brentlinger each had two hits for Capital, while Buddy Woods had a solo home run.
Tom Mohl and Ken Lisko each had solo homers for the Pioneers (34-3-3, 9-2), while John Schaly, Jon Shuler and Steve Riley each had two hits. Schaly and Riley also had two stolen bases.
