MARIETTA — Marietta's top pitchers Dale Hurst and John Burns stifled Otterbein's hitters as the Pioneers won 9-2 and 4-2 at Pioneer Park on Saturday, April 11.
Hurst (6-1) allowed just four hits and the only real blemish came in the sixth inning when Doug Barr hit a two-run home run. Marty Sberna went 3-for-4 with two RBI, while Mark Talarico added three hits for Marietta. Dan Munday also blasted a two-run homer in the fifth inning.
Burns (7-0) struck out five and gave up three hits over 5 1/3 innings for the win. Jerry Bishop tossed the final 1 2/3 innings for his first save of the season.
Ken Lisko went 2-for-3 with two RBI and Tom Gammiere had a double and one RBI for the Etta Express.
