PANAMA CITY, Fla. — For the second consecutive games, runs were at a minimum as Marietta picked up its second win of the season behind a 2-1 victory over Olivet on Monday, March 9.
Junior John Burns (1-0) turned in a solid performance on the mound. He allowed just four hits and struck out three over 5 2/3 innings, however he did walk six Comet batters. Sophomore Steve Riley tossed the final 1 1/3 innings for the save.
Marietta senior Dan Munday scored on a double steal in the fourth inning, and sophomore first baseman Jim Pancher plated sophomore center fielder Marty Sberna with a double to left center in the fifth.
The Pioneers improved to 2-0-1 on the young season.
