PANAMA CITY, Fla. — Junior pitcher Dale Hurst (1-0) was dominant on the mound for six innings as Marietta held off a late rally to defeat Northern Kentucky 3-2 on Sunday, March 8.
Hurst, who allowed three hits through six innings, got into a jam in the seventh after Mark Conradi reached on an error and Mike Roe singled to left to put runners on first and second. After a strikeout, Hurst gave up a two-run double to Jim Brady. With Brady on third, sophomore Ted Payne picked up the save by getting the final out.
MC sophomore Mark Talarico led the Etta Express at the plate by going 2-for-2 with an RBI single in the second inning that scored senior Steve Morman. Morman went 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI in the sixth inning.
Senior Dan Munday went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
