MARIETTA — Junior Chris Risley went 4-for-4 with a double and two-run home run, while junior Ken Lisko belted a grand slam as Marietta cruised to a 20-2 victory over Rio Grande in the first game of a doubleheader at Pioneer Park on Tuesday, March 24.
The Etta Express (16-1-2) won the second game 8-0. The Pioneers recorded 27 hits, including seven doubles over the two games.
In the first game, junior Tom Gammiere went 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI and three runs. Sophomore Marty Sberna added three hits and four runs in the victory.
In the second game, Sberna, Lisko and sophomore Mark Talarico each had two hits.
Sophomore Ted Payne (2-0) threw five scoreless inning and struck out seven for the Game 1 victory. Senior Jerry Bishop (1-0) struck out eight and walked one, while allowing just two hits for the Game 2 win.
