PANAMA CITY, Fla. — Marietta scored 11 runs in the first two innings as the Pioneers cruised to a 13-4 victory over Wingate on Saturday, March 14.
The Etta Express scored four runs on five hits in the first inning, including a three-run home run from senior Dan Munday. Junior Ken Lisko added a double in the inning as he went 3-for-3 with two RBI.
Marietta sent 11 batters to the plate in the second inning and scored seven runs on five hits — all coming with two outs. Lisko's second double of the game drove in two runs, while Tom Gammiere's double also plated two runs.
John Schaly, Munday and Gammiere each finished with two hits as Marietta improved to 10-1-2.
Freshman Jim Kennedy (1-0) earned his first win as a Pioneer by tossing the first four innings of the six-inning game.
Pat Warren and Greg York each had two hits for Wingate.
