PANAMA CITY, Fla. — After spotting Valparaiso three runs in the first inning, Marietta starting pitcher Dale Hurst settled down and allowed four hits over six innings — but the game ended in a 3-3 tie on Thursday, March 12.
Junior Tom Mohl paced the Pioneers on offense with two hits and an RBI, while senior Steve Morman stole two bases and scored a run. Junior Ken Lisko and junior Tom Gammiere each had a hit and one RBI as Marietta scored runs in the first, second and sixth innings.
Valpo starter Jeff Grayson allowed just four hits, but walked seven, while Scott Carter had a single and an RBI.
Marietta's record is now 7-0-2.
