Robert Weber begins his first season as Marietta's head men's rowing coach in 2026-27.
Weber comes to Marietta College after serving as the head coach for the women’s rowing program at Robert Morris University for the past four years. His most recent successes were guiding the Colonial’s Varsity 8+ squad to second place finishes at the 2024 and 2025 Head of the Ohio. Weber also led the Novice 4+ to victory at the 2026 Dad Vail Regatta and a bronze medal at the 2026 Knecht Cup.
Weber takes over for Greg Myhr, who left the College after seven years to accept a position at his alma mater, the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Before his tenure at Robert Morris, Weber spent a season as the assistant coach with the Syracuse University women’s rowing program, gaining valuable experience coaching at an NCAA Division I program competing at the national level.
In 2018, Weber was named coach at the Cambridge University Boat Club, serving for two seasons as the Chief Coach for both Women and Lightweight Men, followed by a season (2020–21) as the Chief Women's Coach. He led the daily training and development of men’s and women’s squads totaling approximately 50 athletes, from developing collegiate rowers to international and Olympic competitors. He contributed to Cambridge securing 11 medals as well as the Victor Ludorum Trophy, presented to the program accumulating the highest overall points, at the 2021 British Universities and Colleges Sports Championship Regatta. That same season, the Cambridge squad also finished as runners-up at the 2021 Henley Women's Regatta.
Weber's coaching background also features stints at Hamilton College, Franklin & Marshall College, the Pennsylvania Athletic Club Rowing Association, the Savannah College of Art & Design, and William & Mary. He began working with the United States Rowing Association in 2013. During his tenure, Weber gained valuable international experience as he led five crews to Senior and Under 23 World Championship medals.
A native of Paducah, Kentucky, Weber rowed collegiately at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana, on the college crew club for two seasons, eventually completing a Bachelor of Arts in History in 1995. He later earned a Master of Arts in History from William & Mary in 1998, followed by a Master of Library Science from the University of Kentucky in 1999.
