Jesse Boyd begins his first year as an assistant coach with the Marietta College volleyball team in 2009.
“I'm very excited to announce Jesse as our program’s new assistant coach,” Head Coach Ray Costa said. “Jesse brings a great deal of high level playing experience and a well developed coaching philosophy that meshes well with our program’s goals on and off the court. I am looking forward to working with Jesse and seeing the type of impact he will have on our student-athletes’ development.”
Boyd played competitively at the University of California-Irvine from 1997-98 and on the National Championship Club team at the University of Arizona from 1998-99. He also won a state championship while in high school.
Boyd is an experienced coach at the high school level where he was the Head Varsity Volleyball Coach at the Cambridge School of Dallas in Dallas, Texas, and the Head Volleyball Coach at the Impact Volleyball Club in Rockwall, Texas.
“I am very excited to work for the Marietta volleyball program,” Boyd said. “They made significant progress last season, and it looks like this season will be the same. I get the feeling that the program is taking big steps forward and I am happy to be a part of that. I believe a big part of the team's progress is the coaching philosophy of Ray Costa. I line up with his philosophy and I look forward to helping him implement it. Another big part is the dedication of the players. I understand that the girls on the team are well-rounded individuals who are committed to success both on and off the court. Those kind of athletes will make my job much easier and more rewarding. I think our fans have a lot to look forward to this season.”
Boyd graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Arizona in 2002. He served as an electrical engineer in Tucson, Arizona for four years before continuing his education at the Dallas Theological Seminary. Boyd remains actively involved with Athletes in Action and coaches volleyball clinics internationally for the organization.
