Theresa Alessio begins her first year as assistant women’s rowing coach at Marietta College in 2016-17.
Alessio comes to Marietta from Fayetteville-Manlius High School in Manlius, N.Y. where she served two years as the boys varsity assistant rowing coach before taking over as the head coach of the girls varsity program last year. In addition to her duties at Fayetteville-Manlius, she was an assistant coach with the Syracuse Chargers Rowing Club for two years.
Prior to her time at Fayetteville-Manlius, Alessio was the girls rowing coach for the Syracuse City School District from 2009-2011. Her first stint with the Syracuse Chargers was from 2008-2010.
Alessio was a four-year member of the women’s rowing team at Syracuse University where she helped lead the varsity 4 boat to a third place finish in the Big east Championship.
A two-sport athlete in high school competing in tennis and rowing, Alessio also rowed for the Syracuse Chargers and was a member of the novice eight shell that won the 2002 New York State Championship.
Alessio graduated in 2008 from the Syracuse University School of Visual and Performing Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Film Art. She holds a USRowing Coaching Level 2 Certification.
