Stacia Shrider, a 2008 graduate of Baldwin-Wallace College, begins her fourth season as the head basketball coach at Marietta College in 2015-16. Shrider has led the Pioneers to a pair of Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament appearances in her three seasons at the helm.
Shrider became the 12th coach to lead the women’s basketball team at Marietta in the 39 years of the program in 2012-13. She had served as the assistant coach for the Pioneers during the 2010-2011 and 2011-12 seasons.
"I'm honored to have the privilege and opportunity to continue my coaching career in my hometown of Marietta,” Shrider said. “I am grateful that Mr. Hiser and the administration are willing to trust me at the helm of the women's basketball program.”
Shrider has been an integral part of the recent progress in the Pioneer program. Marietta finished 10-16 at the conclusion of the 2011-2012 season, reaching double-digit victories for only the second time in the last 17 campaigns and advanced to the OAC Tournament for the first time since 2005.
“The team has shown notable progress over the past few years and I look forward to maintaining that momentum,” Shrider said. “The Ohio Athletic Conference is extremely competitive, but I am confident that our success will continue.”
A Warren High School graduate and Marietta native, Shrider began her coaching career as a graduate assistant at Heidelberg University. She spent two seasons with the Student Princes where her focus included post development, scheduling and practice planning, before returning to her hometown to take the assistant job at Marietta in the fall of 2010.
Shrider was a four-year letter winner and two-year captain at Baldwin Wallace University. In her career, the Yellow Jackets won over 90 games and made a run to the Elite 8 in 2006. Shrider was an All-OAC Honorable Mention selection as well as earning Academic All-OAC honors her senior year.
A member of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association, Shrider has a BA in Education from Baldwin Wallace University in 2008 and a Master’s Degree in Education from Heidelberg University in 2010.
