Carl McCargo is in his second season as the assistant men’s and women’s cross country and track and field coach at Marietta College in 2016-17.

McCargo came to Marietta after spending a year as an assistant coach at Chadron State University, an NCAA Division II member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. In addition to his role as recruiting coordinator, McCargo coached the pole vault, high jump and multi events.

McCargo helped the Eagles break 28 school records and earn seven All-American honors, including one national champion. Chadron also had three RMAC champions and four All-RMAC honorees.

Prior to Chadron State, McCargo spent one year as an assistant coach at Eastern New Mexico University, an NCAA Division II member of the Lone Star Conference. He was responsible for coaching the Greyhound sprint, jumps, hurdles and javelin throwers. Eastern set over 20 school records under McCargo’s assistance.

McCargo graduated from the University of Central Missouri in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sports Management and Special Education.

McCargo was an all-conference hurdler at Riverside Community College (Calif.) helping the team to the California Junior College State Championship. He was a five-time national qualifier at Central Missouri twice earning all-region honors in the decathlon.
