Mike Oblisk joined the Marietta College athletic staff as assistant sports information director in February of 2022.
He comes to Marietta after spending three years as the Director of Athletic Communications at Ohio Valley University in Vienna, West Virginia.
During his time at OVU, Mike served all the institutions 14 athletic programs. From website management, to serving as statistician, to providing play-by-play for the livestream broadcasts, Mike had a hand in making it all work. He managed the promotion of student-athletes and coaches with the use of several social media networks and media outlets. Mike also served as the first Sports Information Director for Ohio Valley (College) back from 2002-2006.
Mike has worked in various other industries over the years. He served as a Production Assistant and eventually Technical Director of the Daybreak program on WTAP from 1995-2002. He earned his teaching degree and taught high school from 2003-2008.
Mike has also worked in the radio industry for over 30 years. In 2008, he landed the job of on-air personality/program director of WRZZ-FM (Parkersburg, WV). During his tenure, Z106 won the WVBA Best Rock Station award 10 times and Mike won the WVBA Best On-Air Personality Award 3 times (2014, 2016, and 2017).
Mike has a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education from Ohio Valley University (2002) and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Oklahoma Christian University (1994).
Mike currently resides in Little Hocking, Ohio with his lovely wife Ruthie. He also has three beautiful daughters (2 of which are Marietta College students): Hallie, Riley, and Brynn.
