Reed Florence comes to Marietta from Wittenberg University where he served as an assistant coach for six years, including the last five seasons as the Tigers’ offensive coordinator. Wittenberg claimed four North Coast Athletic Conference titles and made two trips to the NCAA Tournament during Florence’s tenure.
Florence’s offenses averaged over 400 yards and 30 points per game. He mentored numerous all-conference selections including quarterback Jake Kennedy who owns most of Wittenberg’s passing records.
In his time with the Tigers, Florence has coached several position groups including quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, and safeties. He has also served at the video coordinator and was responsible for recruiting the greater Cincinnati area that includes portions of Kentucky and Indiana.
Prior to Wittenberg, Florence served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Millikin University for one year. He started his coaching career as the quarterbacks coach at Marian University in 2014 when the Knights went 11-3 and advanced to the NAIA National Championship game.
Florence was a standout quarterback for Wittenberg setting numerous school passing records. Florence was the Tigers’ starter for two seasons. In his senior season Florence was named the USA Today Division III Quarterback of the Year and the NCAC Offensive Player of the Year.
Florence earned a bachelor’s degree in Sport Management from Wittenberg University in 2014.
