Addison Painter begins his first year as assistant men's and women's cross country and track and field coach at Marietta College in 2025-26.
Painter returns to Marietta after spending a season at Marshall University, participating on the Thundering Herd track team while completing a master’s degree. During the season, Painter was a conference runner-up and a regional qualifier in the long jump and set school records in both the indoor and outdoor season.
As a Pioneer, Painter was a two-time All-American finishing seventh in the long jump at the NCAA Indoor Championships in 2024 and then taking fourth place at the NCAA Outdoor Championships the same year.
A four-time Ohio Athletic Conference champion, twice in the long jump category, Painter rewrote the Pioneer record book as he holds school records in indoor and outdoor long jump, indoor triple jump, heptathlon, and decathlon. He was named an All-Great Lakes Region Track Athlete eight times and was the 2024 recipient of the prestigious Marietta College Way-Weigelt Award.
Painter picked up some early coaching experience as he took part in several Pioneer Track Camps. He has worked with several age groups and skill levels, helping several prospective track athletes in improving their jumping skills. Painter has also assisted in instructing sprinters and hurdlers, making him a valuable addition to program.
Originally from Vermilion, Ohio, Painter graduated from Marietta in 2024 with a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism. He then recently completed his master’s degree in Sport Management at Marshall.
