ADA, Ohio — The Marietta College women's lacrosse team was held scoreless in the second half and fell to Ohio Northern University, 18-6 on Thursday (April 2) evening. Marietta falls to 6-5 overall and 1-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Ohio Northern is now 7-6 overall and 1-1 in the OAC.
Ohio Northern controlled the first quarter with five scores, despite losing the draw control battle 6-2 to the Pioneers. Marietta got an early goal from
Renee Mulvaney (Midland, Mich./Midland) but was held in check until the final seconds of the period as
Molly Dickens (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) rattled the cage with a score. Dickens scored again on the opening possession of the second period to cut the Polar Bear lead to two, but Ohio Northern scored a trio of scores to close out the half and took an 11-6 advantage heading into intermission.
The Pioneer offensive attack suffered in the second half, only able to muster three shots on goal, including two misses on free position opportunities. Conversely, Ohio Northern added seven goals and would cruise to an 18-6 OAC victory.
Tessa Labrasciano (Brandon, Fla./Bloomingdale Senior) played the first half and collected three saves.
Morgan Parker (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln) entered the second half and made our saves.
Dickens led the scoring with three goals and assisted on one other.
Alayna Francis (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) collectied a total of nine draw controls also led the Pioneers with two caused turnovers. McCarter added a goal and led Marietta with five groundballs.
Marietta is next scheduled to battle Otterbein University on the road Wednesday (April 8), with a scheduled start time of 7 p.m.
