LEXINGTON, South Carolina — All of the runs were scored in the first three innings as Mitchell College knocked off Marietta College by the core of 8-6 Thursday (Mar. 12) afternoon. The drops Marietta to 1-8, while Mitchell improves to 403 on the season.
Mitchell had seven hits and took advantage of four Pioneers errors as the Mariners scored four runs in each of the first two innings. Due to Marietta's defensive woes, only three of the eight runs were earned.
Dom Yarson had a two-run single in the first inning for Mitchell. Chas Terni Jr. smacked a two-run home run in the second.
Marietta scored in each of the first three innings.
Trevor Hall (Fishers, Ind./Fishers) led off the bottom of the first with a solo home run to left center. In his first collegiate start,

Michael Ciavolella (Tallmadge, Ohio/Archbishop Hoban) and
Cooper Fiehrer (Hamilton, Ohio/Badin) each hit solo home runs in the third.
After the early inning fireworks, the relief pitchers took over and the game settled into an old-fashioned pitcher's duel.
Alex Dues (Fort Recovery, Ohio/Fort Recovery) replaced
Nate Holowka (Plainfield, Ind./Plainfield) on the mound for Marietta in the third, while Jacob Quiles replaced Andrew Manzo in the fourth.
Quiles (2-0) was nearly unhittable for the Mariners. He worked 6.0 shutout innings allowing two hits with three walks and 10 strikeouts. Manzo started and allowed six runs on six hits in 3.0 innings.
Dues tossed 7.0 shutout innings scattering four hits and striking out five. Holowka (0-1) took the loss after giving up eight runs, three earned, on seven hits with two strikeouts.
