ADA, Ohio — Ohio Northern University defeated Marietta College by the score of 104-72 Saturday (Feb. 21) afternoon in Ohio Athletic Conference men's basketball action. The Pioneers finish the season with a 9-16 overall record and 4-12 in the OAC. Ohio Northern improves to 17-8 overall and 12-4 in the OAC.
The Polar Bears scored the first seven points of the game and never looked back. Ohio Northern never trailed in the game. A three-pointer from Aiden Harris five minutes into the game for a double-digit ONU lead, 18-6. The lead remained in double figures for the duration of the game.
Ohio Northern led by as many as 20 points in the first half and took a 50-32 advantage into halftime.
A 13-0 Polar Bear run midway through the second half increased the ONU lead to 36 points, 73-37. Marietta got no closer than 25 points.
Jai Guerra-Howard (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain) led the Pioneers with 15 points.
Elijah Harden (Sharon, Pa./Kennedy Catholic) and
Mason Wisniewski (Farmington Hills, Mich./Orchard Lake St. Marys) each had 14 points.
Luke Powell (St. Marys, W.Va./St. Marys) grabbed a team best 10 rebounds.
Will Miller led ONU with 20 points. Mason Studer finished with 17 points, while Theo Maag recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 boards. Harris chipped in with 12 points.
Marietta will say goodbye to three seniors. Harden,
Jake Singleton (Senecaville, Ohio/Meadowbrook) and
Darius Carden (Ooltewah, Tenn./McMinn Central) finish their career in the navy blue and white.
