MARIETTA, Ohio – Marietta College Head Football Coach Tom Kaufman announced the captains for the Pioneers' upcoming 2025 football campaign. Linebackers Harley Hopkins (Zanesville, Ohio/West Muskingum) and Brady McManaway (Pleasant City, Ohio/Meadowbrook) and offensive lineman Brayden Adams (Fresno, Ohio/Garaway) were honored as the team's leaders this fall.

Hopkins finished 2024 with 98 tackles, second best in the OAC, and was seventh with 5.5 sacks.  He received two post season accolades as he earned a place the on the D3football All-American second team and was named the Gene Slaughter Linebacker of the Year award in the Ohio Athletic Conference.

"Harley has the respect of his teammates, so we are thrilled to have him serve as captain this year," said Coach Kaufman. "He's a joy to coach, and players with his talent and personality don't come around very often, so we're looking forward to helping him have an amazing senior season."

McManaway averaged nearly five tackles per game and collected 5.5 tackles for loss last year from his outside linebacker position. He was named All-OAC and was a first time All-Region selection after last season.

"Very excited for Brady to be named captain by his teammates," said Coach Kaufman. "He's a natural leader and one of our hardest workers. He plays the game the right way and is a pleasure to coach. We cannot wait to watch him play and lead."

Adams is a two-year starter on the offensive line and earned first team All-OAC honors last year. He is also a two-time Academic All-OAC honoree.

"Brayden is a tremendous leader and football player," said Coach Kaufman. "He takes young players under his wing, while holding himself and his teammates to a very high standard. I am proud of him for being named captain and look forward to watching him lead."

The Pioneers open the season on the road tonight at Westminster College for a special Thursday (Sept. 4) night game. Kickoff is schedule for 7:00 p.m.
